The Northeast Tennessee Diversity in Employment Consortium held its first Business Appreciation Reception on October 30, 2007 at the Visitor’s Center in Jonesborough, TN. Local employers were honored and received the Governor's Award for their recognition in achievements for employing individuals with disabilities plus individual employees received the Governor's Employee Awards for their contribution to their employers. Guest speakers for this event were Kathy Pierce, Alliance for Business and Training; Teresa Broome, TN Dept of Labor & Workforce Development; David B Hawk, TN House Representative; Alan Broyles, Mayor of Greene County; Steve Godsey, Mayor of Sullivan County; Susan Arwood, TN Department of Rehabilitation Services; and Regena Burrow, Employment Coordinator, TN. |

The 2007 Governor's Employer Awardees included: A-1 Auto Salvage, Inc, Greene County Express, Jane's Fiber and Beads, Professional Vending Services, Inc., ACT, Spherion, Food City, Video Magic, HealthSouth, Veteran's Affairs, James H Quillen Medical Center, RR Donnelly and Volunteer Blind Industries. The 2007 Governor's Employee Awardees included: Morgan Vicars, Christina Christiansen, Christy Smith, Wanda Corby, Clark Thompson and Adam Johnston. Additional employer recognitions went to Angus Palm BMS, Ci Ci's Pizza, Citi, Forward Air, Holston Valley Hospital, HT Hackney, Plus Mark, Wal-Mart, WBEJ and Wyndham.
