Employment & Training
We are committed to providing employers access to recruitment and training services for both immediate and long-term needs. We help coordinate services through local partners in the state's local workforce investment areas to help connect employers with the well-trained workforce they need to be productive. Dislocated Worker Services for businesses and workers experiencing downsizing or lay-offs are also coordinated by Employment and Training.
In a changing economy, it's not always easy to find a job that matches your skills. But it gets a lot easier when you have a partner who can help you.
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has job and career centers across the state that can work with you in a variety of ways. We've helped thousands of Tennesseans find new jobs, most with salaries equal to or higher than their previous jobs.

It's not always easy to decide what job would be best for you. Counselors can help you assess your skills, talents, aptitudes and job strengths.

As the job market changes, your skills need to keep up. We can help you find the training or education that leads to a new and better career. It may be getting your GED, moving on to higher education or training in specific job skills. We have the information on courses and financial assistance which may be available.

The difference between looking for a job and getting one is often your approach. We can help in a variety of ways. You can learn to write a better resume and improve your business communications. Develop your networking skills. Learn how to make the best impression at interviews. We can even help you improve your wage and salary negotiation skills.

It's not easy being between jobs. But we can help you make the best of it. From practical advice on working with creditors and budgeting, to counseling that can help you cope with the stress of a job change or layoff. Advisors are ready to help you one-on-one. We also regularly schedule workshops covering a wide range of work and career-related topics.

Free. You've already paid for all these services, through your taxes when you were working. In fact, we may even be able to help you with health insurance and financial assistance for training, education, and moving expenses in some cases.
